Yes, that is right! Each scarf or blanket is woven on a hand loom here on our farm in Northamptonshire. From selecting yarn to finishing the cloth, the process is done in-house in small quantities.

Weaving itself is only part of the process. Before a scarf goes anywhere near the loom, hours go into selecting the yarn, designing the pattern and winding the warp. The loom is then "dressed" - the warp is wound onto the back beam and threaded. Weaving itself may take a few hours to a day depending on the design, followed by washing and finishing. Twisted tassels are an art in themselves! This is slow fashion in the best way possible, and every item is a journey of love and discovery.

Wool is one of the most sustainable fibres going. The fibre itself is durable, biodegradable and recyclable, while sustainable sheep farming practices support biodiversity and the health of our landscape, including our precious soils. Wool is also naturally flame- and odour- resistant, and a great insulator. It needs less washing than some other fibres, and is a renewable resource!
